During this past year, even with all the challenges that Covid-19 and the pandemic brought to us and posed, the club enjoyed significant growth within our Teams program. It has been great to see our players enjoying playing the beautiful game, learning and developing with smiles on their faces, and enjoying the social aspects along with the healthy living benefits, that participating in the sport brings.
During the 2021/22 season, we piloted our Minis and Tykes program, PMSC After School Program, and Futsal.
Our PMSC Minis and Tykes (U2-U5) sold out last Spring with 100 spots filled. For this upcoming Spring, we are currently at 98 boys and girls registrations with these age groups – and are expecting to see more register as we opened it up to some additional spots.
We ran our pilot PMSC After School Soccer Program in collaboration with MoreSports this past Fall and we saw 306 students from 7 Elementary Schools register for our Inclusive, and barrier-free PMSC After School Soccer Program. We are expecting to see similar numbers in our Spring After School program after the Spring Break.
In addition, we piloted our PMSC Futsal program, which has 38 participants in our current Fall/Winter Program, and like all our other programs we piloted this year, has received some excellent feedback and reviews.
Last Spring marked our inaugural season in the Pacific Coast Soccer League, which provided excellent training opportunities for some of our older youth team players (mainly U17s and U18s boys and girls) and allowed them to train and play alongside and against some top University players. One of our PMSC Pacific Coast Soccer League players from the last season, Filip Rakic, has spent the winter trying out with the Whitecaps and has just signed a contract with the Vancouver Whitecaps. Congratulations Filip! We are looking forward to the Pacific Coast League teams starting to practice in April and games starting in May. Our club will host the Final Four Women’s Challenge Cup Championship on July 23/24th weekend! Save the date!
