The federal government recently passed legislation to make September 30 a federal statutory holiday called the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. An important step in the reconciliation process, this day provides an opportunity to recognize and commemorate the tragic history and ongoing legacy of residential schools, and to honour survivors, their families and communities.
On September 30th, The Port Moody Soccer Club will be observing the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and will be shutting down club lead activities for that day. We would like to pay tribute to the victims of the residential school tragedies by reminding everyone to consider wearing an orange shirt on Thursday.
