The Port Moody Soccer Club is proud to share an initiative that was undertaken by one of our long-standing club volunteers, Noelene Ahern. Noelene and her family took a trip to South Africa in mid 2020, in which old jerseys within our club were distributed to some players during their trip to South Africa. From the words of Noelene and her family:
“Just before Covid started causing worldwide chaos, (we) visited South Africa and took some of the PMSC old uniforms along. These were donated to a group of soccer players at an informal settlement at Vaaloewer, about 100 km outside of Johannesburg. Even though these players live in impoverished shacks, and play soccer on a dusty field nearby, they have their own soccer league among other informal settlements. They were very excited to receive a set of matching jerseys for their games. Even the ladies got matching white PMSC jerseys for their netball team.”

As a part of the Port Moody Soccer Clubs commitment to the promotion of soccer in it’s own community and abroad, we thank the Ahern family for helping to pass along a little bit of joy from our members to their members, and we look forward to providing further opportunities down the road as they present themselves.
Thank you!
