Injury Management

Studies have shown that proper warm up and cool down can reduce the risk of injuries in soccer players by up to 35%. Thus it is very important that each team spend some time warming up at the beginning of the practice, and doing the cool down exercises at the end of the practice.

Dynamic warm-ups are an essential part of any soccer player’s routine and can help prevent injuries and prepare your body for the physical demands of the game.

In soccer, dynamic warm-ups typically include a combination of stretching, cardio, agility exercises, and technical work. These exercises help increase blood flow to the muscles, improve the range of motion, and activate the nervous system, all of which are essential for injury prevention.

The FIFA 11+ is an injury-prevention program which has been specifically designed to prevent soccer injuries. It was developed by a panel of international experts to build on earlier injury-prevention efforts, including the PEP program and FIFA 11.

The program takes twenty minutes to complete and is designed to be performed twice a week. No specific equipment is needed. The FIFA 11+ consists of 15 exercises divided into three separate components.
Port Moody SC Recommends teams and players follow the FIFA 11+ warm up routine.
