The Last Day to Register for Spring Soccer is March 13th!

The Port Moody Soccer Club is the only club in the Tri-Cities that offers a full Spring program for ages  U4 to U18. This is a short 3 month season that begins in April and wraps up at the end of June each year. For information related for our Spring Program offerings, please click the appropriate tab below, find the players age group, and click on that tab. You will now see the program information for the player below.

** Please note that all players who wish to play in the U8 - U9 Development Program, or U10 - U18 High Performance Programs must also register for  the Spring Evaluation Camp prior to being placed on a team. This can be found at the same time in our registration system when you register for Spring Soccer. **

Spring Soccer Question form:

Please fill out the form below if you have a question about our Spring Soccer Program, Registration or any other Question.

Frequently Asked Questions

Below are some of our most commonly asked questions relating to our Spring Soccer Programs.

Are any of the soccer game rules changing as a result of Covid-19?

There are a few game rules that have been adjusted. Mostly they relate to no handshakes, the need to sanitize before/after games, etc.  However, to be compliant with no touching of the ball/equipment, throw-ins will be replaced by a ‘kick-in’, and there are new procedures for a 'drop ball'.  To view the most current BC Soccer Return to Play plan that outlines these changes please go to the BC Soccer website HERE to view.

Can my child play in a different age group?

Per BC Soccer regulations, all players must play in their respective age group. The only exceptions to this include:

  • If there are insufficient players of the correct age group to complete a team. In this instance, younger players will have to play in an older age group, regardless of the number of players in each age group.
  • If a player has been identified as being significantly advanced in skill and maturity such that playing in a higher age group is necessary to their player development.
  • If a player has an identified physical or mental disability and is best placed in a different age group – this requires approval from the BC Soccer Association.

The Club’s Technical Team will need to approve any player not playing within their age group.

How are players assigned onto teams?

U6-U10: In these age groups, we do our best to balance rosters in reference to age, experience, and abilities.  Keeping this in mind, the Port Moody Soccer Club also takes into consideration locale and special requests/circumstances.

U11-U12: Athletes in these age groups are divided between recreation and development programs.  Development rosters will be formed based on staff and team coach assessments, as well as an evaluation process open to current and new athletes.  Recreational players will be placed on rosters in a similar process to that of the U6-U10 programs.  Further details will be provided on the Technical site pages.

Refunds & Policies

All U13-U18 players, U11-U12 Division 1 & Division 2 players, and U8-U10 Development (or Div 1 & 2 for spring season) team players do not qualify for a refund. Upon accepting positions verbally/written on teams, players and parents will forfeit all registration fees in order to recognize the need for proper team selection and evaluation, including respect for other players who might have been omitted because of such acceptance.

All U6-U12 recreational and Division 3 level players are subject to the following refund schedule:

All refund requests are subject to a $35.00 administration charge.

  • Spring Season: As of March 15, no refunds.

Additionally:

  1. The final amount of any refund will be at the discretion of PMSC.
  2. If space limitations prevent us from placing a player on a team, a full refund will be provided.
  3. PMSC will not consider refunds for circumstances beyond the clubs control. (weather, government/municipal decisions, etc.)
  4. PMSC is not responsible for money paid directly to team officials/teams, or sponsorship/fundraising raised and collected by teams.
  5. PMSC will not consider refunds for players or persons removed/suspended/expelled from PMSC.
  6. Refunds will be subject to the unrecoverable costs where applicable, and the return of all raffle tickets. Including, but not limited to:
    1. Prorated registration/participation fees (if applicable)
    2. Governing body and league affiliation fees
    3. Team pictures fees/costs
    4. Equipment and Uniform fees/cost
  7. Coaches are not authorized to issue refunds.
What does a registration ‘deadline’ mean?

In order to meet the deadlines for us to register teams to the League(s), ensure we have enough time to order uniforms and equipment, plus confirm coaches and create team rosters in a timely fashion, we need to set a registration ‘deadline’.  At this point, we look at registration numbers per age and division and determine how many teams we will have at each age, gender and division, and subsequently determine team/player registration limits.   Registration will remain ‘open’ after the deadline, but will be set to waitlist only unless there is room on a team.  If enough players register to the waitlist and we can find a coach, we will try to create additional teams as possible.

DO NOT ASSUME THAT BECAUSE YOU PLAYED ON A TEAM WITH PMSC LAST SEASON THAT YOUR SPOT WILL BE HELD FOR THE SPRING OR FOLLOWING FALL/WINTER SEASON.

We do give team placement priority to returning PMSC players, but only to a certain date and only if there is room on a team at their assessed age/division level – otherwise registration is first-come, first-serve to be fair to all players wishing to play soccer.

Who coaches the teams?

Teams are generally coached by parent or community volunteers, and in some cases a team may have a club- assigned technical coach for their team. The Club provides all coaches with training and resources. Each coach is required to submit a Criminal Record Check (no charge to the coach) to the Club at the start of the season. For our Kick Start program a parent or guardian is expected to be with their child at all practices and games (no drop offs allowed), and as such parents are encouraged (at the direction of the coaches) to help out and participate. For our older teams, the coach will advise what is expected in terms of parent participation.
